God has blessed me with a wonderful family, my husband Nancumar and three children, Ravindra, Navinder,and Nadira - two boys and a girl. Ravindra lives in Madison Heights, Michigan and is a mechanical engineer for Chrysler. Our son Navin owns his own video production company, Kharmai Video Productions, and lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his wife Traci, son Quinn Alexander and daughter Lillian Joy. We live in Rockford, Michigan. Our daughter Nadira recently graduated from Grand Valley State University and is working in the communications field and modeling for several agencies. I work full-time at Meijer Inc, at the corporate office. I have been there for 30 years. My husband works for GE Aviation, he has been there for 30 years also.

In the spring of 2001, I visited with a missionary from Guyana. I asked him to tell me about his church. He said, “It’s growing but there is a little girl who comes to church faithfully and it is very difficult for her to walk." I asked, “How difficult is it for her to walk?” He said she has club feet. I said, “There has got to be someone who could help her." That was it. That was the seed God planted in my heart.

Three months later, I heard a voice say, “Lita, what are you going to do for that little girl?” I couldn't ignore the Holy Spirit's prompting.

I called my friend Peggy Odren, Nadira’s piano teacher, asking her to give me the name and phone number of her daughter’s surgeon. I called that surgeon's office, explained the situation of the little girl and asked if they could help her correct the club feet. That surgeon's office said no, but gave me the phone number to another surgeon’s office ... this continued to about the fourth surgeon’s office. I finally reached an organization called Healing The Children. I asked the director, Helen, if she would be able to help the little girl. She asked if I could get some pictures of the child.

Matthew 7:7 says, "Ask, Seek and Knock. Ask and it shall be given unto you, Seek and you shall find, Knock and the door shall be opened."

January 2002, I mailed the pictures to Helen. She said she thought the organization would be able to help the little girl. Six weeks later she found a doctor and host family and said she would be looking for a hospital to donate their facility. At this point, this was something God wanted for some little girl around the world, who did not even know this. I quickly e-mailed one of the pastors there, asking if he could ask the family if they would like to see their little girl's feet corrected so she can walk normally like all of us (which we take for granted). I explained that the expenses would be taken care of - there would be no expenses that the parents would have to cover. I received an e-mail the next day stating that they would accept this generous service. It was not my intention to go to Guyana for this child. Two weeks prior to her arrival in the US, I was asked by Healing the Children to escort her from Guyana to the US and to interview other children who may need medical care in the US.

My daughter Nadira and I went to Guyana South America in April 2002. We met 13 year old Preeya Permaul. We visited numerous other children with medical problems such as: club feet, disfigured face, burned face, cleft lip/cleft palate, and other major deformities. Two of the children touched out hearts - Asalim and baby Sarah.

Asalim was burned so badly, his eyelids would no longer close. For three years Asalim was unable to blink or even close his eyes to sleep.

I met baby Sarah when she was five months old. While I was in Guyana looking for a young boy with medical problems, my cousin told me about a newborn baby girl with major medical problems (she didn't have a vagina). I asked my cousin if she knew the baby’s family or where they lived. She did not. However, God is great. I was still looking for the young boy, asking people on the street if they know where the boy lived. I noticed a lady walking with a baby in her arms. (At that moment, I never even thought about the baby my cousin had mentioned to me). I waved at the lady to come to me, because I wanted to ask if she knew where the boy I was looking for lived. But as she approached me, the people standing by me said, “That lady’s baby has problems!” It was the baby my cousin was telling me about - baby Sarah. The lady said, “God sent you to me," and I said, “Yes, He did."

It was not by luck, but by God's providence that I found her.

After asking, seeking and knocking for help for Asalim and baby Sarah, both of them came to the US, received donated medical care and went back home. Their parents are from a Hindu and Muslim background. They called me stating they have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior, AMEN!

When I met baby Sara and was able to find the medical team and the host family to help her, that was confirmation that God has a plan and a purpose for my life- to connect the dots for Him.

Our primary goal is to help as many children as we can and to share the good news about Jesus Christ.

The need for medical care for children in under-privileged countries is so great, that these children wait many years to get medical care in the US through other organizations. Surgeries that are usually treated at birth here in the states are left untreated for many years in foreign countries.

God has laid it on my heart to connect the dots for HIM to find the doctors, hospitals, host families willing to donate their time, God given gifts and talents to the children.
