Yvonne called Lita from her home in Guyana to give a report. She is thrilled, very happy and excited about school because she could now hear 100%. She said she does not depend on anyone to repeat to her what the teacher said in class. She is wearing both hearing aids.
She gives free American Sign Language lessons to two of her teachers and 11 children at the Business school she attends. She also gives free ASL lessons to the children at the Bible Churches. I spoke with her mother Shadika, she is overjoyed and happy to know that her daughter can hear 100% and is able to communicate clearly with everyone. She is no longer intimidated or embarrassed.
Yvonne and her family are giving praise and thanks to our Lord Jesus for the opportunity to come to the USA for medical care and to all of you for providing her the opportunity to regain the precious gift of hearing.

16-year-old Yvonne is losing her hearing and her ability to speak.
Yvonne arrived in Grand Rapids, MI, USA on Sunday, June 22, 2008, escorted by CCM President Lita Kharmai and Emily Jorgensen.
Yvonne is pictured here with her initial host family, The Wollets. She is scheduled to have an evaluation to determine what, if any, surgery is possible to help her with her condition.
She stayed with Lita and Nancumar Kharmai for 9 months, weekends & holidays with LeFaber's Cook's, Johnson's and Jorgensen's. Yvonne had a great experience with all of the families.
